2011 International Cup Contingent Team Manager Selected

April 18, 2011 - Today the Canadian Baton Twirling Federation announces that Steven Kopas has been selected to be the Team Manager for the Canadian Contingent to the 2011 WBTF International Cup in Jacksonville, Florida.

The selection committee consisted of: Joanne Moser (CBTF 1st Vice-President), Beth Jamieson (CBTF 2nd Vice-President) and Elan Paluck (CBTF Technical Chair). The committee was chaired by Jeff Johnson (CBTF President).

Steven has a long history in baton twirling. Internationally, he represented Canada at the WBTF World Championships every year from 1993 through 1997, placing 5th in the Junior Men division in 1994 (Newmarket, Ontario) and 6th in the Senior Men division in 1997 (Honolulu, Hawaii). Recently, Steven was the Team Manager for the Canadian Contingents to the 2009 WBTF International Cup in Sydney, Australia and the 2010 WBTF World Championships in Bergen, Norway. He was also the Assistant Athletic Therapist for the Canadian Field Lacrosse Team at the 2010 World Championships in England.

Steven is a Certified Athletic Trainer (CATA and OATA) and is qualified to perform assessment, treatment and management of injuries that may occur while competing. He is currently the Head Athletic Therapist for Seneca College (North York, Ontario).

Steven will be working with the Coaches and Athletes named to the 2011 Canadian Contingent in the months leading up to the event.
