January 26, 2009 - Kayla McKinnon and Sara Thibeault, both of Regina, have been named Finalists for the 2008 Saskatchewan Athlete of the Year Awards, in the Team category. The Saskatchewan Sport Awards include the 2008 Athlete of the Year Awards, Saskatchewan Coaching Awards, and Saskatchewan Volunteer Recognition Awards. The awards will be presented on

January 22, 2009 - Being on the national team and representing Canada at the World Championships is a dream come true for many twirlers. Being able to realize this dream does not come without many challenges, personal sacrifices and financial hardships.

January 1, 2009 – The Canadian Baton Twirling Federation is pleased to announce that Go Away Travel (Calgary) has been selected as its official travel sponsor, effective immediately and through July 31, 2010.

Under this sponsorship agreement, CBTF as well as its members and friends will all directly benefit. Go Away Travel will return a portion of the commission generated from each booking to the party paying for the reservation. This means that individuals, using their CBTF Go Away Travel Referral, will be able to directly reduce the cost of their travel. CBTF will also receive a portion of the commission generated from all referred bookings.

After reviewing applications from several candidates, Steven Kopas has been selected to be the Team Manager for the Canadian 2009 International Cup Contingent.

Canada is allowed to send up to 10 athletes in all Events/Divisions/Levels - spots in some Events/Divisions/Levels are still available. These remaining vacancies can be filled by athletes following the Late Declaration Process, strictly on a first-come first-served basis. Once all spots in an Event/Division/Level have been filled, no further declarations for that Event/Division/Level will be accepted.
