  Betty Infilise moved that drawing procedures for athletes for the Canadian Finals Preliminary Round would be drawn in random order by the provincial representative(s) (heads) at technical meeting, July 2/83 at 6:00 pm as per drawing procedures for Worlds in Milano. Names to be placed in one box, numbers in another box.

 

1987 STM MOTION #2
  Wendy Harmen moved that if there is an error in the drawing for the order of appearance at the Canadian Team Trials, a re-draw will take place.

 

1989 FTM MOTION #31 (Ratified - Motion #16 - 1989 FBM)
  Betty Infilise moved that athletes perform 1st round Freestyle in reverse order they place in Compulsory Moves.

 

1989 FTM MOTION #32 (Ratified - Motion #16 - 1989 FBM)
  Betty Infilise moved that the Top 15 athletes perform 2nd round freestyle in reverse order they placed in the combined score of compulsory and freestyle 1st round.

 

1989 FTM MOTION #33 (Ratified - Motion #16 - 1989 FBM)
  Betty Infilise moved that the top 7 athletes perform final round freestyle in reverse order they placed in the combined score of compulsory and 2nd round freestyle.

 

1989 FTM MOTION #35 (Ratified - Motion #16 - 1989 FBM)
  Myra Kirk moved that, if there are more than five athletes in the Level A provincial, regional and National Freestyle Team Trials division, two rounds must be run - lst round being an elimination round as well as establishing the order of appearance for the 7 finalists. Procedure of "order of appearance" as established at the 1989 FTM - Motion #31, 32, 33. If there are more than 15 or more athletes, 3 rounds must be run in which 7 athletes will be chosen and the 2nd and 3rd round freestyle scores are averaged and combined with the compulsory score for final placement.

 

1990 STM MOTION #5
  Bev Latrace moved that the order of appearance for national championships for compulsory moves be drawn prior to the summer technical meeting beginning in 1991.

 

1990 STM MOTION #6
  Bev Latrace moved that the CBTF President appoint a committee of a minimum of 3 to perform the number draw for compulsory moves a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the Canadian Championships.

 

1990 STM MOTION #7
  Pat Stevenson moved that the order of appearance of compulsory moves for Canadian Team Trials is withheld and then distributed in printed form at the CBTF summer technical meeting, CBTF summer board of directors meeting as well as at the CBTF annual general meeting with the exception of authorized competition personnel who shall receive it as necessary.

  Brenda Bennett moved that the order of appearance for compulsories be from a random draw.

  Sylvia Day moved that beginning in 1991, the Committee to do the order of appearance for Canadian Team Trials consist of a minimum of three judges with no athletes/siblings competing in such Team Trials.

 

1995 FTM MOTION #40
 

Tim King moved that, for one year trial basis (1996) only, for individual events at National Team Trials, the following Seeding Process Method for establishing Order of Appearance be used:

  • Athletes placed first to last in reverse order determined by compulsory scores
  • Three evenly divided groupings created (odd number of athletes will be placed in the 1st group). These groupings now called seeds.
  • Order of Appearance will be determined by random draw within the seed.

INTENT: National Competition Director and National Chief Tabulator have the authority to do the random draws at National Team Trials.

 

1998 WTM PROPOSAL #2 (Ratified - Motion #30 - 1998 SBM)
 

Tina Larson proposed that the following Seeding Order of Appearance Procedure for Provincial, Regional and National Freestyle Events be accepted as follows:

  1. The Compulsory Event - order of appearance by random draw.
  2. 1st Round of Freestyle - athletes will perform randomly within a seed. The numbers in a seed will be determined as outlined below. The athlete's seed is determined by compulsory placings with the lowest placings in the first seed & the highest placings in the last seed.
  3. 2nd Round of Freestyle (if required) and Final Round - athletes will perform in reverse order from their combined placings from the previous round(s). (See CBTF Procedure for Overall Placement).

DETERMINATION OF SEEDING

  1. Number of Seeds determined by number of competitors, divided by 10 and rounded to the nearest whole number. Therefore:

    1-14 athletes 1 seed
    15-24 athletes 2 seeds
    25-34 athletes 3 seeds
    35-44 athletes 4 seeds
    45 -54 athletes 5 seeds Etc.
  2. After the number of seeds has been determined, the number of athletes in each seed should be divided as evenly as possible, with the largest seed being the first seed.

Tina Larson proposed that the following Order of Appearance for WBTF Pairs and Teams at Provincial, Regional and National Team Trials be accepted:

  1. First Round: Pairs and Teams will perform in order of appearance by random draw.
  2. Second Round (if required) and Final Rounds: Pairs and Teams will perform in reverse order from their placings from the previous round. (see CBTF Procedure for Overall Placement).

  Brenda Hall proposed that, for Provincial and National Winner/ Championship Individual/Duet Events, the order of performance for Semi-Final and Final Rounds will be determined by random draw.

Ron Kopas moved that the Order of Appearance for the Final Rounds at the Canadian Winner/Championship (Individual/Duet) Events be reverse order of placement from the first (preliminary) round.

INTENT: To give athletes who advance to the finals recognition for their placement.

  Myra Kirk moved that at Provincial Winner/Championship (Individual/ Duet) Events should two rounds be run, the Order of Appearance for final rounds would be in reverse order of placement from the first (preliminary) round.

FEB 03 CONF CALL MOTION #5
 

Joyce Ormshaw moved that the following procedure to determine rounds be used for National BN and BI Winner/Championship Individual and Duet Events:

  1. Every division shall have two rounds with the top 7 or 50% (to a maximum of 16) advancing to the final round.
  2. Divisions with 32 or more athletes/duets will be divided equally into 2 groups (Group A and Group B) by random draw (eg: computer) for the first round. (Note: if there is an uneven number, Group B will have the extra athlete). The top 8 athletes will be selected from each group to advance to the final round (total 16).
  3. Order of appearance for all first rounds shall be determined by random order.
  4. Order of appearance for all final rounds shall be reverse order. For divisions of 32 or more, the reverse order of appearance for final round will be determined by a draw between Group A and Group B athletes and duets to be done by the Tabulating Crew. Example: A or B will be drawn. If "B" is selected, then all athletes in Group B will go prior to the corresponding placement number in Group A - for example: 8B, 8A, 7B, 7A, 6B, 6A …
  5. All divisions will have 1 or 2 judges in the first round dependent upon feasibility (eg: availability of judges, financial considerations, time allotment, space availability, etc.) to be determined by the competition director.
  6. All divisions must have three judges for final rounds.

Elva Taylor moved that the following procedure be used for Provincial BN & BI Winner/Championship Individual and Duet Events:

  1. Two rounds must be run when there are 16 or more athletes.
