MOTION ??
  That the formation of the Twirl Canada contingent (teams and individuals) be allowed alternates. If, for any reason, the top three of individuals or first place of teams cannot attend the World Championships, an alternate is sent. Alternates are determined in descending order of final round placement.

 

1989 FTM MOTION #2 (Ratified - 1989 FBM -Motion #16)
  Betty Infilise moved that once an athlete has taken the floor for compulsory competition, the athlete may not be replaced by an alternate.

 

1989 FTM MOTION #24 (Ratified - 1989 FBM - Motion #16)
  Nancy Beachin moved that WBTF Teams declare a maximum of 11 members in all (9 members plus 2 alternates) of their team by their Provincial Team Trials. Within that 11 membership you must compete at the Provincials, Regionals, Nationals and Worlds. If not abided by at the Provincials, Regionals or National level, a 40 point penalty will be assessed. From Canadian to World Championship, if not abided by, the alternate team would be sent to Worlds.

 

1993 STM MOTION #2 (Ratified - 93 SBM - Motion #18)
  Carrie McKitrick moved that the top 5 Junior and Senior Pairs qualifying at their provincial team trials advance to the National Championships (without alternates).

 

1993 STM MOTION #3 (Ratified - 93 SBM - Motion #18)
  Jennifer Meron moved that, regarding WBTF provincial teams or Trans-Canada teams, an alternate may only be a member (competitor or alternate) of one team.

 

1993 STM MOTION #43 (Ratified - 1993 SBM - Motion #18)
  Myra Kirk moved that an alternate athlete will not be eligible to compete once the last qualifying athlete from their residing province has taken the floor due to injury or mishap at the Canadian Championships in Individual Events.

 

MAY 1994 SPEC TECH MTG MOTION #4
  Linda Boyd moved that the 40 point penalty for not abiding by the motion made at the 1989 Fall Technical meeting that clarifies maximum of eleven members (9 members and 2 alternates) be declared by the Provincial Team Trial date, be assessed as follows: 40 points be deducted from the Gross Total Points prior to averaging scores and deducting penalties.

 

1995 FTM MOTION #8 (Ratified - 95 FBM)
 

Jennifer Meron moved that we accept 1995 Summer Group Recommendation #4 which reads:

"That an athlete cannot be listed on two (CBTF status) declarations within the same event, status and division, in any capacity (athlete or alternate)."

2001 FBM MOTION #16
 

Karen Gratton moved that the CBTF Group Declaration Process re: 24 (b) "Alternates" be amended to read:

"24(b) The maximum number of Alternates a group can declare is 40% of the competing twirling members. The 40% calculation must be rounded to the nearest whole number:

Examples: 3 members x 40% = 1.2 = 1 alternate
- 4 members x 40% = 1.6 = 2 alternates
- 5 members x 40% = 2.0 = 2 alternates
- 6 members x 40% = 2.4 = 2 alternates"

 

2003 SBM MOTION #14
 

Tina Larson moved that CBTF Teams be revised as follows:

Age Divisions: Junior (4-14.999) Senior (15+)
Levels: A and B
Size: 6-8 members
Maximum 2 alternates

2004 FBM MOTION #32
 

Karen Gratton moved that Proposal #25, 2004 FTM be accepted as amended:

"That CBTF adopt the following Policy regarding Alternates for all declared Teams and Corps:

  • Alternates do not have to be listed on CBTF Group Declaration Forms.
  • If needed, an alternate member may be drawn from within the group's own club or province providing there is no form of solicitation of athletes.
  • The group's status level must remain the same.
  • The age of the alternate cannot change the age division of the group.
  • The rule regarding the maximum number of alternates that a group may have (40% of regular members) still applies.
  • An alternate must be a current CBTF Type A member."
