January 25, 2009 - The Canadian Baton Twirling Federation (CBTF) named the 36 athletes who will be invited to represent Canada at the 5th WBTF International Cup, to be held August 6-9 in Sydney, Australia.

January 17, 2009 - Updated to reflect recently-received Late Declarations.

The International Cup Declaration Process is now complete - 33 athletes have declared their intent to compete and represent Canada at the 5th WBTF International Cup:

  • 14 Junior Women
  • 13 Senior Women
  • 3 Adult Women
  • 1 Junior Man
  • 1 Team

The Event Registers for the Team Trials Events (Level A and B) are available for your review.

Coaches and Provincial Technical Chairs - you are strongly urged to review these event registers and ensure that your athletes have been recorded in the proper events and age division.

Any child traveling without at least one parent, must have written parental consent appointing the chaperone to make decisions for that child, such as health care, and emergency treatment.

Any child under the age of majority traveling without one or both parents must have the notarized consent of the parent or parents who are not with the child to cross international borders.

A wine & cheese party for all CBTF Coaches and Judges is scheduled on Saturday June 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. This will be held on the second floor of the at Grant MacEwan College.

This is intended as purely a fun get together... A time to socialize, share and get to know others  involved with the same passion... BATON!!

June 1, 2009 - The inaugural Lynda Garland Award For Excellence will be presented in Edmonton during the CBTF Canadian Winner/Championship competition.

The CBTF Annual General Meeting of the membership will be held during the Canadian Championships in Edmonton, Alberta. The meeting is scheduled to be held on June 30, 2009 beginning at 6 pm at Grant MacEwan College Centre for Sport and Wellness.

The agenda proposed for the meeting is attached.

Karen Gratton, CBTF Technical Chair, is pleased to announce the following Head Judge selections during the Canadians 2009 events:

May 22, 2009 - The newly designed official CBTF Compulsory/Short Program Suit made its debut at the Ontario Provincial Championships the weekend of May 22-24.

The selection committee (Karen Gratton, Ron Kopas, Kristin Macaraeg and Kyla Wilson) evaluated design and price proposals submitted by several vendors from across the country. At the conclusion of the evaluation process, Fever resort + cruise wear was selected as the successful vendor.

The entry form package has several parts:

CBTF is pleased to announce that Pom Pom Teams will be offered at the Canadian 2009 Open Group Competition on Tuesday June 30th. Teams who enter will perform for a panel of 2 judges who will provide a Critique Comment Sheet for each team and a score will be assigned however no placings will be given. Team members will receive a participation ribbon.
