June 1, 2009 - The inaugural Lynda Garland Award For Excellence will be presented in Edmonton during the CBTF Canadian Winner/Championship competition.

The CBTF Annual General Meeting of the membership will be held during the Canadian Championships in Edmonton, Alberta. The meeting is scheduled to be held on June 30, 2009 beginning at 6 pm at Grant MacEwan College Centre for Sport and Wellness.

The agenda proposed for the meeting is attached.

May 22, 2009 - The newly designed official CBTF Compulsory/Short Program Suit made its debut at the Ontario Provincial Championships the weekend of May 22-24.

The selection committee (Karen Gratton, Ron Kopas, Kristin Macaraeg and Kyla Wilson) evaluated design and price proposals submitted by several vendors from across the country. At the conclusion of the evaluation process, Fever resort + cruise wear was selected as the successful vendor.

CBTF is pleased to announce that Pom Pom Teams will be offered at the Canadian 2009 Open Group Competition on Tuesday June 30th. Teams who enter will perform for a panel of 2 judges who will provide a Critique Comment Sheet for each team and a score will be assigned however no placings will be given. Team members will receive a participation ribbon.

May 1, 2009 - Karen Gratton, CBTF Technical Chair, announced today that Compulsory Sets have been selected for the Level A and Level B competition at the 2009 Canadian Championships in Edmonton, Alberta.

May 1, 2009 - Paola DeMarchi, WBTF Technical Chair, announced today that Compulsory SET B has been drawn for the 2009 International Cup in Sydney, Australia. Both Junior Men and Junior Women for all WBTF Levels competing in Sydney (Elite, Level A, Level B) will compete using SET B.

CBTF is pleased to announce that the following CBTF Certified Judges have been chosen for the 2009 Canadian Championships in Edmonton, Alberta:

March 30, 2009 - Five athletes representing the Canadian Baton Twirling Federation competed at the recent Congressional Cup 2009 Invitational competition held at Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

March 10, 2009 - Neil Sochasky is now touring in Europe with the Dance Company O Vertigo in the production La Chambre Blanche (www.overtigo.com).

February 24, 2008 - The Coaches Association of Ontario (COA) celebrated eight outstanding coaches from all levels of sport at the 2009 Coaching Excellence Awards this past weekend. LeeAnn Wilson, of the Camaros Baton Club in Oshawa, was the recipient of the COA Coaching Excellence Award in the Developmental Category.

January 30, 2009 - Four Baton Twirling coaches have been nominated for the Chunky MVC: Most Valuable Coach award, sponsored by TSN, Campbell's Soup and the Coaching Association of Canada. The 'nomination phase' of the contest closed on January 29, 2009. The coaches nominated are:

January 26, 2009 - The two judges selected to represent Canada at the 2009 International Cup in Sydney, Australia will be Brenda Cooper and Lucinda McMaster.

Both are fully-certified WBTF Masters Judges, certified to judge all WBTF International Cup events. In addition Brenda Cooper is also a certifed WBTF Clinician.

January 26, 2009 - Kayla McKinnon and Sara Thibeault, both of Regina, have been named Finalists for the 2008 Saskatchewan Athlete of the Year Awards, in the Team category. The Saskatchewan Sport Awards include the 2008 Athlete of the Year Awards, Saskatchewan Coaching Awards, and Saskatchewan Volunteer Recognition Awards. The awards will be presented on

January 22, 2009 - Being on the national team and representing Canada at the World Championships is a dream come true for many twirlers. Being able to realize this dream does not come without many challenges, personal sacrifices and financial hardships.

January 1, 2009 – The Canadian Baton Twirling Federation is pleased to announce that Go Away Travel (Calgary) has been selected as its official travel sponsor, effective immediately and through July 31, 2010.

Under this sponsorship agreement, CBTF as well as its members and friends will all directly benefit. Go Away Travel will return a portion of the commission generated from each booking to the party paying for the reservation. This means that individuals, using their CBTF Go Away Travel Referral, will be able to directly reduce the cost of their travel. CBTF will also receive a portion of the commission generated from all referred bookings.
