COVID-19 Response

Updated February 9, 2021. This is a summary of recent decisions - please refer to our COVID-19 Impact page for full details.

The WBTF Board of Directors met on January 30 and decided to postpone the World Championship that had been re-scheduled for August 2021. A new date for the Championship will be determined later. Separately, the European Commission of the WBTF also decided to postpone the 2021 European Cup and re-schedule once the new WBTF World Championship date has been determined.

The CBTF Board of Directors met on February 7 and decided to further postpone the Canadian Team Trials that had been re-scheduled for May 2021. A new date for the Trials will be finalized once the WBTF re-schedules their World Championship.

The CBTF Board also decided to proceed with the 2021 Canadian Winner/Championship, but in a non-traditional manner. The 2021 competition will be held as a 'Yellow'-style competition following the charts to describe the various combinations of Competitive opportunities for the 2020-21 season (Competitive and Pre-Competitive Opportunities and Phases). Preliminary discussions regarding the specific format of the competition have taken place with the CBTF Technical Committee and the CBTF Board of Directors. The planning committee is requesting information from our competitive athletes to aid in further determining the details of the layout of this event, and a survey has been sent to all provincial organization heads for distribution within their province.

In the next few months, the IBTF Managing Committee will meeting to determine the status of the August 2022 IBTF World Championship and Nations Cup.

The CBTF Technical and Education Committees have published charts to describe the various combinations of Competitive and Pre-Competitive opportunities for the 2020-21 season (Competitive and Pre-Competitive Opportunities and Phases).

Provincial health guidelines and provincial Return to Sport phases/restrictions must always be followed. These opportunities exist within those protocols. For example, Pair/Duet or group events cannot be offered if that type of activity is not allowed based on yourprovince's Return to Sport phase.

To facilitate online judging, most of the CBTF Scoresheets and Masters now offer PDF-Fillable versions of the forms. These are all available for download from the website, on the 2020-21 Competition Score Sheet CD page.
