Team Manager for the 2010 World Championships Selected

March 2, 2010 - Today the Canadian Baton Twirling Federation announces that Steven Kopas has been selected to be the Team Manager for the Canadian Contingent to the 2010 WBTF World Championships in Bergen, Norway.

The selection committee consisted of: Joanne Moser (CBTF 1st Vice-President), Beth Jamieson (CBTF 2nd Vice-President) and Karen Gratton (CBTF Technical Chair). The committee was chaired by Jeff Johnson (CBTF President).

Steven has a long history in baton twirling. Internationally, he represented Canada at the WBTF World Championships every year from 1993 through 1997, placing 5th in the Junior Men division in 1994 and 6th in the Senior Men division in 1997. Steven was the Team Manager for the for the Canadian Contingent to the 2009 WBTF International Cup in Sydney, Australia.

With that experience, Steven is familiar with the operation of WBTF events as well as the Canadian Contigent when travelling abroad.

Steven is also a Certified Athletic Trainer (CATA and OATA) and is qualified to perform assessment, treatment and management of injuries that may occur while competing.

Steven will be working with the Coaches and Athletes named to the 2010 Canadian Contingent in the months leading up to the event. The Canadian Contingent will be selected at the 2010 Canadian Trials competition, to be held in Regina between May 21 and 24.
