CBTF Event Tie-Breaking Process Quick Reference

Revised September 2013.

A 'quick reference' one-page summary of the tie-breaking process for the CBTF events is attached. It is meant as a summary tool, not as a replacement for a proper understanding of the CBTF technical rulebook.

This quick reference shows the tie-breaking requirements for different levels of competition.

CBTF Progressional Model

The Progressional Model was developed by the CBTF Technical Committee in 1999. It was loosely modelled after the Canadian Sport Centre’s Long Term Athlete Development Model to depict six phases of participation available to athletes, coaches, judges and volunteers within the Canadian Baton Twirling Federation.

Compulsory 9 Progression: Level C to B to A

At the 2016 Fall Conference, the Level C (also SDP Silver Pin) and Level B (also SDP Gold Pin) Compulsory #9 was modifed. These changes were made to make a better progression from Level C through Level B and Level A/WBTF Elite.

Head Judge Duties and Responsibilities

Their concern is: Many athletes’ have been on the cusp of moving up to 2.5, 4.0, and 6.0. for a number of times but have been held back for a long time.

Practice Judge Supervisor Policy

PreCompetitive Program Music

With the PreCompetitive Standard Routines adopted in September, there are 7 new music tracks. We are anticipating additional changes at the beginning of 2016 (another 5 or 6 tracks).

Revised Short Program Element 1 description and video

At the WBTF 2015 Summer Meeting, a change to Element Number 1 (Grand Jeté) of the Short Program was approved. I am bringing this to the attention of all Coaches and Judges as this change will be implemented immediately and will be in effect for the 2015-16 competitive season - all CBTF and WBTF competitions, including Team Trials and the World Championships.
